Description

This knitting pattern PDF is for the Dotty Colourworks Socks. The Dotty Socks are a fun sock knitted in three colours but equally could be made in four or five colours. A great stash buster!

The Dotty Socks were first published in Homespun Magazine in 2019.

They are worked in the round on double-pointed needles from the cuff down with a heel flap construction. Simple stranded colourwork in striped bands is featured on the leg and toe.

The toe is closed using Kitchener stitch (grafting).

The Dotty Colourwork Socks require intermediate knitting skills.

There are 3 sizes: Small (Medium, Large)

Leg length from ankle approx 18cm/7ins

Foot length approx 21 (23, 25) cm/8¼ (9 ,9¾) ins

These measurements may be adjusted but be aware that you may need more yarn if length is added to the leg or foot.

Yarn Used: 4ply

A pair of socks uses approx 115-135 metres/126-148 yards of C1, 145-180 metres/159-197 yards of C2 and 100-115 metres/109-126 yards of C3, in fingering weight or 4 ply yarn.

Needles and notions

  • one set each 2.25mm/US 1 and 2.75mm/US 2 double-pointed needles
  • stitch markers and yarn needle

Tension

The tension required is 35 sts and 46 rows to 10cm/4ins over stocking st using 2.25mm needles, worked in rounds.

These socks have been knitted on smaller needles and at a firmer tension than usual for this yarn to help the socks retain their shape with wear.
